Hills prescription diet canine a/d
Hills prescription diet canine a/d

Hills prescription diet canine/feline a/d has been specifically formulated by veterinarians to be fed to dogs or cats with certain debilitating conditions. These conditions can be affected by the lack of key nutrients and digestible energy.

Indications:
- Recovery (including loss of appetite, debility, surgical convalescence and tube feeding).
- Hepatic lipidosis (without encephalopathy).

Not recommended for
- Patients where the primary objective is to avoid fluid retention, or prevent the accumulation of nitrogenous by-products, phosphorus or sodium.
- Patients intolerant of high fat intake eg. with hyperlipidaemic pancreatitis, or with a
history of, or at risk of, pancreatitis.

Additional inform ation
- For greatest acceptance, ensure food is between room and body temperature (20-400C); do not feed straight from the refrigerator.
- When syringe-feeding, thoroughly stir the contents of the can before filling the syringe.
- Discard any unused portion after 36 hours.
- In patients with reduced gastrointestinal function, a 3 day transitional feeding strategy
may be necessary:

Day 1 – a third of recommended total intake + twice that amount of water;
Day 2 – two-thirds of recommended total intake + half that amount of water;
Day 3 – full recommended intake, undiluted.
For tube feeding blend with 1-2 parts water.
